LEARNING FROM THE BARBICAN
The Barbican, designed by Chamberlin Powell and Bon and built between 1965-82, is the original mixed-use development with residential, recreational, and cultural facilities alongside a lake and landscaping, conservatory, and high-rise housing, a Brutalist island in the ancient Square Mile of London. In his talk, 'Learning from the Barbican', Daniel, former assistant to Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown, will discuss how A&M’s Barbican Renewal project is grounded in the process of 'learning from' to uncover and celebrate the original architectural vision to provide new opportunities for a diverse community of partners, artists, and audiences.
